My CBT Practice

CBT Therapist in Manchester. Therapeutic treatment personally tailored to you

Hi, I’m Olivia, an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) therapist. I work with individuals who are navigating the challenges of anxiety, stress, perfectionism, and self-criticism, using evidence-based tools. My goal is to help you develop a deeper understanding of your thoughts, emotions and behaviours, and empower you to make lasting changes that foster greater emotional well-being and self-compassion.

I believe that therapy should be a supportive space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful change. CBT is an effective, evidence-based approach that helps you to examine how your thoughts, emotions and behaviours all interact together. By identifying patterns of unhelpful thinking or coping, we can work together to shift patterns that no longer serve you, finding healthier ways of responding to life’s challenges.

I specialize in helping people who struggle with:

  • Anxiety: Whether you experience general worry, social anxiety, or specific phobia, we’ll work on strategies to break the cycle of anxiety and regain a sense of control and confidence.

  • Perfectionism: If you find yourself constantly striving for unrelenting standards and still feeling dissatisfied, we’ll explore how perfectionism may be limiting your potential and causing unnecessary stress.

  • Self-Criticism: If you’re feeling burdened by an inner critic that undermines your self-worth, through CBT, we’ll work on developing a kinder, more balanced relationship with yourself.

I approach therapy with a blend of compassion, collaboration, and a strong focus on reaching your therapeutic goals. My aim is to create a safe and supportive environment where you can explore the underlying causes of your distress, build on your strengths, and develop practical tools to manage stress, reduce perfectionistic tendencies, and silence the inner critic. Through our work together, I believe you can build resilience, cultivate self-compassion, and find greater peace and balance in your life.

I offer a free 15-minute consultation where we can discuss your goals and determine if we’d be a good fit to work together —feel free to reach out anytime using the contact form below.

How can I help?

I currently offer online 1:1 CBT sessions via Zoom. Your CBT session will be tailored to help you understand, manage, and overcome your difficulties. In our first few sessions, we’ll start by exploring the difficulties you’re experiencing. I’ll ask questions to get a full picture, and I will help you to identify tangible therapeutic goals to work towards. This will help us to create a treatment plan that’s based on CBT principles and tailored to you. This will provide a detailed understanding of yourself, incorporate your goals and work as a blueprint for your evidence-based therapeutic treatment.

Depending on your needs, I may draw on a range of evidence-based approaches, including:

  • Cognitive Therapy – Focuses on identifying and challenging unhelpful thinking patterns that contribute to emotional distress, helping you develop more balanced and realistic thoughts.

  • Behavioural Therapy – Targets specific behaviours that may be reinforcing problems, using strategies like behavioural activation, exposure, and skills training to support meaningful change.

  • Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) – A highly effective treatment for OCD and related anxiety disorders. ERP involves gradually facing feared thoughts or situations while resisting the urge to engage in compulsions or avoidance.

  • Trauma-Informed CBT – An approach that integrates CBT principles with an understanding of the impact of trauma. It emphasizes safety, collaboration, and empowerment while supporting recovery.

  • Traditional CBT – A structured, skills-based approach that helps you understand the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours.

These approaches are always adapted to suit your unique situation, goals, and preferences. During our initial assessment, we’ll explore which methods are likely to be the most helpful for you.
